I: SEE IT
1: Flag Ceremony
Every day around 9 pm a parade of soldiers in white uniform take place in front of the Mausoleum near Ba Dinh Square to perform a flag ceremony. This is also a good place for people watching, as the locals like to come here for a walk in their pajamas and enjoy the beautifully lit up area. You can also catch the flag raising ceremony in the morning if that suits your time frame better. <74, D3>
II: DO IT
Every weekend, a long strip of street in the Hanoi Old Quarter is sectioned off and packed like sardines with myriads of people crowded around makeshift stands selling all kinds of novelties. Take advantage of the opportunity to souvenir shop, and always be cautious; night markets are a pickpocketing paradise. Start at the crossing of Hang Gai and Hang Dau Street. <75, E3>

It is also one of few places in Hanoi that is open until 1.30 am.
